March 2003, Graco introduces a new entry level range of airless sprayers for the professional sprayers. We call them ST MAX™.
Our objectives were to build a new range of professional units capable of:
- Withstanding tough working conditions.
- Handling the breath of professional paints used in our markets
- Being small and portable for all renovation and new construction jobs.
To reach these objectives, we simply asked what professional painters considered to be professional features while we strived to build those features in a small, compact and highly portable machine.
The results is within the ST MAX™ family of sprayers, with professional features that up until now, were only found in our Ultra® Max line of sprayers.
First is the electric motors which are totally enclosed to prevent dust damage and fan cooled for long operation. These motors, being highly efficient, last longer and can handle extension cords up to 60 meters without power loss.
Second, is the Ultra® Max drive system which, besides being warrantied for 5 years, transfers the power of the motor efficiently and runs quietly.
Third, we control the complete spraying performance of the ST MAX™ with our exclusive SmartControl™ which offers a gradual pumping speed to maintain even pressures at the tip but mainly, it's a system that learns how a painters uses his sprayers and will adapt its output with the output needed by its owner.
Last, we have mounted our proven Endurance™ piston pump which provides long life while being serviceable by the painter on the job site. All this, with nothing more than a hammer and a wrench provided with the sprayers.
With these four new elements, we were able to drastically increase the performance of these sprayers. The maximum pressures have been increased to atomize today thicker coating (225 bar), flow has been increased (faster application) and larger tips can therefore be used (capable of spraying a wider range of paints)
That's for the basics. On top of these elements, we have added a battery of new exclusive ST MAX™ features which will make them easier to own.
Breakthrough technology such as the Vertical EasyOut™ pump filter, SmartControl™ with Watchdog™ technology and TiltBack™ design. These new developments offer even more ease of use.
The complete range exists of 2 basic models : the ST Max™ 395 (1,7l/min) and the ST Max™ 495 (2,1 l/min). The ST Max™ 495 is available now in three versions Stand (new 2003 version), Lo boy and Hi boy.
Graco delivers units ready to spray which includes the gun, the tip, and the hose.
Features & benefits
- The digital SmartControl™ maintains a constant spray flow and only increases or decreases on demand. Also the SmartControl™ can display up to 6 standard error codes, after completing a fully automatic self-diagnosis. This of course saves maintenance and repair time.
- The Watchdog™ technology shuts of the pump automatically when the pump runs out of material. This increases safety when the pump runs dry and avoids damage and potential, related cost for maintenance and repair. The Watchdog™ function is an option. You can select for protection mode or manual monitoring.
- The EasyOut™ pump filter makes cleaning more easily. Due to the new concept the material flows inside out through the filter. Debris stays at the inside of the filter and can be easily rinsed out.
- The TiltBback™ design facilitates easy cleaning and maintenance. As the unit can be placed in different positions it is also easier to exchange new paint buckets.
