Environment & Sustainability at Graco

Graco’s first steps to reduce the impact of our activities on the environment

Nowadays, everyone is talking about environment policies and how behaviour and neglect is leading to changes in the climate. The public are becoming increasingly vocal about what they expect from manufacturers, such as less packaging, more recyclable products and services and products that do not harm the environment.

As a manufacturer, Graco has become aware of the requirement and steps to make to result in a new way of doing business in a more environmental friendly way.

A few examples below show some of Graco’s first steps to reduce the impact of our activities on the environment:

Graco products are designed to handle water-based lacquers.
Our mobile electric units are compliant with the European ROHS Directive, which means they contain a minimum of hazardous substances.
Graco complies with the European WEEE Directive on the separation, transport & removal of waste. Graco products are processed and recycled by recycling companies in the country of the user.
In terms of waste prevention, Graco reuses the packaging of incoming goods to repack outgoing goods.
The greenest paper is no paper at all, so at Graco, we keep things digital whenever possible by eliminating unnecessary photocopies, reducing fax machines and encouraging e-mail.
We have installed movement sensors to turn office lights on and off automatically.
Graco has adopted a “green” working environment by installing plants throughout the offices. It is proven that plants improve mental well-being; they purify the air and make it healthier inside the building.
Rainwater collection is one of the easiest ways to save water, money and energy. Graco collects rainwater in a tank and uses this water to flush the toilets. Only if there is not enough rain-water available, do we switch over to the main water supply.

Sustainable development is defined as meeting present needs without compromising the ability of future generations to meet their needs.
